OTI Annotation: This clone was engineered to express the complete ORF with an expression tag. Expression varies depending on the nature of the gene.
OTI Disclaimer: The molecular sequence of this clone aligns with the gene accession number as a point of reference only. However, individual transcript sequences of the same gene can differ through naturally occurring variations (e.g. polymorphisms), each with its own valid existence. This clone is substantially in agreement with the reference, but a complete review of all prevailing variants is recommended prior to use. More info
Product Components: The ORF clone is ion-exchange column purified, transfection-ready dried plasmid DNA, and shipped with 2 vector sequencing primers.

Gene Summary: This gene encodes an inhibitor of both the classical and the alternative pathways of complement activation. The encoded preproprotein undergoes post-translational processing to generate a mature polypeptide anchored to the plasma membrane via a glycosylphosphatidylinositol moiety. Erythrocytes from mice deficient in the encoded protein exhibit impaired regulation of complement activation resulting in enhanced complement deposition. Mice lacking the encoded protein exhibit enhanced susceptibility to experimentally induced myasthenia gravis. This gene is located adjacent to a closely related gene on chromosome 1.
